Vote Lynne Jones for Welsh Rep on Labour's NEC

"Our job is to inspire people to vote for us because we convince them that we can transform their lives for the better. To do that we need to be convinced ourselves, so that members are energised and actively engaged in championing our values on the streets and in workplaces. Party members are a vital source of ideas and are often ahead of the leadership, for example on issues of equality and democratic reform. That is why, if elected as Welsh Representative on the NEC, my promises and the key points of my campaign are:

  • To be accountable to Party members in Wales and to produce regular reports to CLPs, affiliates and for any members requesting them

  • To do my best to ensure that internal democracy and disciplinary procedures are conducted in accordance with the principles of natural justice

  • To promote the progressive policies of the Welsh Government and work for the adoption by UK Labour of the policy platform on which Keir Starmer was elected leader

  • To ensure the full implementation of the Detailed Recommendations in the Forde Report, including the requirement for NEC members to act in accordance with the Nolan principles (of selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership)

I have lived in Wales since 2012, after I retired as MP for Birmingham Selly Oak. I have been an active member of Brecon and Radnorshire CLP since then. Soon after moving here, I realised that my branch of Knighton and Presteigne had not been meeting and organised a relaunch. As well as being Branch Secretary, I have served as Vice Chair and Chair of my CLP. I have been a Samaritans’ listening volunteer and am passionate about conserving and enhancing nature. I have been enjoying learning Welsh since last July."
